Washington Commanders release kicker Brandon McManus

Accused of sexual assault

Washington Commanders kicker Brandon McManus has been released by the team following allegations of sexual assault.

Two women have accused McManus of sexual assault while he was on the team. The allegations were first reported by The Washington Post, which said the women allege that McManus assaulted them in separate incidents in 2020 and 2021.

McManus has denied the allegations. He said in a statement that he is "confident that I will be cleared of these false allegations and that my name will be cleared."

The Commanders said in a statement that they are "aware of the allegations" against McManus and that they are "taking them seriously." The team said it is "conducting a thorough investigation" into the matter.

McManus was signed by the Commanders in March after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was the team's kicker for the 2022 season.
